The bluing was restored on this first-generation Marlin model 336 lever action in 30-30 caliber.

There is a spot on the receiver that, appeared at first glance, to be a wear spot but I am guessing it may be bird dropping. Bird excrement contains acids that can easily remove the bluing. There was also wear from being carried for many years.

The screws and loading port cover was nitre blued to a iridescent blue. |

niter blued to a gray color. |
